[845 pts] They left cuz of money.
[336 pts] Respectfully, this seems like its written by someone who hasn't actually held a job. The key motivating factor to switch jobs is not generally who will 'win' its primarily money as a sliding scale around the work environment (meaning you give more money i overlook more work problems). This applies to employees at the top, middle, bottom. While I agree that the models are ahead, I dont agree that would always be true or ultimately even matter in determining who 'wins'. I have no interest in Google, but this was such a bad take i had to weigh in. Also in tech these top people have every job option open to them. Google will take them back without issue if either company folds.
[189 pts] \> When something like this is happening, there is really only one possibility: Top talent do not believe Google will win. Ehh, a lot of talent also moved to Meta from OpenAI etc. I don’t think anyone remotely thinks meta will win. They all moved because money.

How are you approaching MU earnings on Wednesday and the following momentum on all the remaining memory stocks, assuming all the stocks move higher? I was holding some OTM LEAPS on MU and DRAM starting from April, but I realized I’d be better off if I simply bought shares back in January - wishful thinking. I’m not sure how much more of a parabolic potential do all these memory stocks have left but I wanted to get your opinion on how you approach such parabolic moves, assuming MU beats on all fr...

[24 pts] I bought DRAM August calls about a week ago. They were out of the money when I bought them and they're ITM now...will probably sell on Monday just in case of a big drop after earnings. Currently up about 70% on the position. If there's a big drop after earnings, I'll buy calls again.
[30 pts] Earning beat and stock move lower is my prediction. It beat 12/12 previous EE It fell 8/12 post earnings Earning is also slowing… this one estimate to next one is only about 20% growth (as compared to a year ago 10X ) and going forward will most likely slow more as capex expansion slows and also they reach capacity and demand destruction if raising price further I bought last time post earnings sub 400 (albeit with more Iran overhang). It has tripled since in 3 months, with only slight earning estimate adjustment up. I’m out and if you think it will rally good luck
[31 pts] MU will drop after earnings. Have cash on hand to buy the dip, but wait until the next day. Geopolitical turmoil might also cause it to fall farther. It is the top of its game. It is no longer cyclical. It is the best in its sector and good for another 3 years.

What's the most charitable explanation for why Bill Ackman has significantly underperformed the S&P500 in his fund PSHZF? (47 pts)

I do not own the fund, and am not a huge fan of the guy. Just want a devil's advocate. I guess the idea here is that he's a "brilliant" investor. But clearly he's underperformed a simple index. Why would any one invest in any of his funds? Please enlighten me. Thank you!

Top Comments:

[110 pts] Bill Ackman got some lucky picks and has been coasting off those wins for decades.
[52 pts] He's not brilliant. When you have a million guys all picking stocks, a few of them will get lucky and pick all good ones. Then their luck runs out eventually. That's what seems to happen with most of the famous investors out there. If even the professionals can't do stock picking, what chance do you have as a total amateur? Stick with index funds.
[13 pts] cuz he is more focused on politics and shitposting on twitter than managing his fund but generally over 10 years only 10% of managers outperform, over 30 years only 1%

I was under the impression until recently that my reinvested dividends weren't taxed; however, I've learned they are. I have an anti-midas touch that every trade I make goes south! In 2024 I bought NVDA at $ 950 when they were going up non stop. As per my math, they had a potential to reach $ 1350 at 75 PE. But immediately after I bought, its downtrend started and SMCI announced earnings date without revenue numbers. For this reason, NVDA dropped 10% in one day, so I panicked and sold at $ 760 https://preview.redd.it/d56ajk5fnj8h1.png?width=1313&format=png&auto=webp&s=aec60589e06b042f697633cd052e50a2dbf...
